Martine is interested in the subconsciousness. She uncovers subconscious images by intentionally drawing without thinking. Sometimes elaborate images appear; surrealistic landscapes, symbols, fairy-tale like creatures.. Where do they come from? Martine calls it dreaming on paper.
While translating these drawings into paintings Martine stays mainly in the intuitive mode, feeling her way through the painting, adding new associations in the process and searching for meaning.
